Introduction — Welcome

Hello, welcome to my medium page! My name is Ava Cenizal and I am Filipino-American. I was born in raised in Santa Clara, California. I have been in the Bay Area my whole life, and I simply love living in the Bay, even if everything is insanely priced. I especially enjoy the many boba shops located throughout the Bay Area. Currently, I am a student attending San Jose State University as a public relations major and aiming for my bachelor’s degree. In my free time, I love watching Korean dramas on Netflix, listening to K-pop, watching anime, playing games on my Nintendo Switch, and attempting simple calligraphy in my sketch journals.

For the spring semester of 2021, I am taking a journalism print, magazine, and online writing course for the very first time, as I need it to complete my general education requirements and my major. Ever since I was a child, I have always been consuming many different types of media, especially since I practically grew up with a cell phone and modern technology. Nowadays, I often check social media like Instagram and Twitter to get updated on certain news or check in with my friends. Media is something many of us consume in our daily lives and can have an effect on the lives of others depending on what is put out into the world. From a young age, I have always been told I could be a journalist or go into a career that has journalism aspects, because of how much I loved to talk about anything and creating conversations about daily topics. During my last year of high school, I definitely considered journalism as something I would love to learn more about or broaden my horizons about what journalism is. I believe taking this course will develop my knowledge about the print, magazine, and online writing basics that I need to pursue a career in public relations. In the future, with my degree, I do want to do work abroad for a reliable company.
